Responsibilities

Element Digital Engineering (formerly Norton Straw), is a leading provider of specialist simulation, design, and consultancy to clients across many industries in the UK and Internationally. We cover everything from;

  • Experience judgement and simple hand calculations
  • System level 1D modelling to detailed component level 2D/3D simulations
  • You will play a central role in providing clients with design support and verification services, operational troubleshooting, and technical safety assessments

Skills / Qualifications

Due to sustained growth in demand for our gas turbine and aerospace services, we are looking to recruit engineers with the experience of carrying out system and component level thermofluids and heat transfer analyses to support the further development of our inhouse capability. 

 

We are looking for people who:

  • Can lead technical delivery of projects as well as Project Management them 
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree (grade 2.1 or above), Masters or PhD or in a relevant engineering, science or applied mathematics discipline. Preferably with a strong CFD or thermofluids component
  • Experience delivering engineering analysis of aero / industrial gas turbine systems in a consultancy setting or a gas turbine design environment
  • Interest in supporting the development of junior team members
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics and heat transfer and an awareness of gas turbine secondary air system, oil and fuel systems;
  • Ideally have experience with themofluids analysis tools such as SPAN, SCO3, Amesim, Flomaster, Fluent, STAR-CCM+, NPSS 
  • Are proficient in the use of programming language such as Python, VBA and C++
  • Ideally Chartered (or equivalent) or actively working towards chartership status
  • Like a challenge, are flexible thinkers and aren’t intimidated by unfamiliar problems
  • The position can be based at our Cambridge, Derby or Bristol locations
