Overview

Element has an exciting opportunity for a Cyber Security Head of Engineering to build and lead a Cyber Security Engineering team within the Cyber Security function which will design and implement highly secure technology solutions to protect against cyber threats and potential cyber-attacks.  The successful candidate will have an established background as a security engineering manager responsible for securing complex global environments and developing security solutions at scale . This will include deep experience in application, cloud and infrastructure domains.

 

Responsibilities

  • Hiring, developing, and mentoring security engineers, and managing the day-to-day activities of the team
  • Lead the design and deployment of technical solutions and new security toolsets to mitigate security vulnerabilities, protect against cyber threats and automate repeatable tasks
  • Being a key contributor to the Security Strategy, defining the long-term vision for cyber security in close alignment with the business’s objectives
  • Acting as a trusted advisor, providing security leadership and guidance to business divisions, projects and third parties
  • Develop and maintain a Security Technology Framework and Roadmap within:
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend standard security products as potential security solutions
  • Develop and document designs for bespoke standard security components that deliver reusable security functionality
  • Liaise closely with Group IT infrastructure operations and development teams to support the implementation of standard security solutions
  • Identify gaps now and in future in line with the Security Technology Framework and Roadmap, and produce business cases to fund the implementation of technologies and processes to fill the gaps through investment

Skills / Qualifications

  • Ability to evaluate and articulate risks, develop consensus, raise awareness and provide thoughtfully considered cyber security solutions to various key business stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the Cyber Kill Chain, Mitre Framework and the Diamond model and how they apply to threat intelligence
  • Strong understanding of various security technologies (FW/IPS/IDS/DDOS, EDR/MDR, DAST/SAST, Identity Access Management, SIEM & SOAR, etc.)
  • Vast experience working as a security engineer, implementing solutions in a variety of infrastructures with a cloud first mindset
  • Good exposure to leading or managing teams, including defining roadmap, solutions, and implementation of complex security tooling
  • Significant experience and detailed technical knowledge in multiple areas of: security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, application and cloud security
  • Experience with threat modelling or other risk identification techniques, and risk management
  • Strong project management experience desired for working on cross-functional projects
  • Demonstrated track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects with evolving requirements
  • Experience with a wide range of technologies and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly
  • Both a deep technical knowledge and business acumen with the ability to translate and distil complex technical information across all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
