Overview

Element has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Senior Medical Test Engineer to join their expanding team. Depending upon experience and preferences this role would be based at our Hull Centre of Excellence, although being based at one of our other UK laboratories with regular traveling to Hull may also be an option. This role is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills, experience and enthusiasm to support Element’s growth into new areas, as we continue to add further medical standards to our UKAS and CB scope. This position will enable the right person to play a key role in the further development of Element’s medical safety team, exploring and realising new opportunities for growth, and helping the team develop their current capabilities; a fantastic chance to play a vital part in helping our customers realise their goals of getting innovative new products to market, and contributing to making tomorrow safer than today.   • Proven experience working to IEC 60601-1 and collateral standards within an ISO 17025/CB accredited laboratory environment

 

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Department Manager and Technical Manager with improving test methods and efficiencies, generation and revision of test procedures, and supporting the planning and implementation of scope updates and additions (in accordance with our ISO 17025 accreditation requirements)
  • Reviewing and approving test reports and records, and working closely with the certification team
  • Assisting the commercial team, and helping customers with general and technical queries, to ensure technical and customer needs and expectations are met
  • Managing individual projects and communicate with Element’s customers to provide progress reports and test results
  • Supervising, supporting and helping to develop the test technicians and engineers, and providing insight and guidance regarding test requirements team to meet the commercial and quality objectives of the business
  • Applying technical knowledge of the standards during the planning of tests, contract reviews and assessment of equipment
  • Working closely with other members of the engineering team to meet the commercial and quality objectives of the business
  • Being able to perform or support testing on-site at customers’ premises or other Element facilities

Skills / Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be qualified to BTEC HND or Degree in a relevant discipline and have proven experience in test and certification of medical devices
  • Proven experience working to IEC 60601-1 and collateral standards within an ISO 17025/CB accredited laboratory environment
  • Good communicator, both written and verbally with the ability to converse with colleagues
  • Computer literate with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Team player with a demonstrated personal commitment and drive and the ability to get the job done
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including with customers
  • Ability to plan, organise and manage workload in an efficient and timely manner
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role would be an advantage
  • Hybrid working
