Overview

Warringtonfire, part of Element, has an opportunity for a Product Assessor to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity to work with one of the fastest growing organisations within the Testing, Inspection & Certification sector. Responsibilities

  • Prepare robust technical engineering reports in relation to passive fire protection product sectors within your competency. Be able to judge the relevance and impact of primary and secondary supporting fire and non-fire data in order to provide advice based on customer needs and produce technical assessment and classification reports, European Technical Assessments, third-party
  • Certification for fire safety products and constructions
  • Plan test programmes in liaison with clients and the relevant testing departments
  • Review audit reports, sampling reports, non-conformances, contract reviews etc. for technical compliance. Approve documents for certification if they meet the relevant Standard’s or Technical Schedule’s requirements
  • Continuously develop knowledge in National, European and International Standards and Specifications relating to fire safety, and in specialist product areas
  • Lead and contribute to the development of standards, and to represent the company, as appropriate, on nominated standards, sector group and trade association committees and on other public platforms where required
  • Assisting in the development of the department – positively contribute ideas and provide sounding-board for new initiatives
  • Work with manager, colleagues and team to increase knowledge of role and standards and the service provided by all; put effort into improving technical and decision-making skills for self and the team
  • Provide support for Accreditation Body audits as required

Skills / Qualifications

  • Educated to BSc level standard or higher, ideally with a science or engineering degree or relevant industry experience
  • Understanding of structural engineering is preferred
  • Understanding of advanced features of MS Office or coding packages (e.g. VBA, macros) is preferred, but not essential
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings
  • Exposure within any fire industry, building materials, materials science, product installation, engineering, construction, product certification, fire-related product development or a similar technical industry would be advantageous, but not essential
  • Keen interest in all aspects of fire safety
  • Ability to handle a varied workload in a busy environment
  • Respond positively to change
  • Able to prioritise and reach decisions quickly and effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong numeracy skills and strong attention to details
