Overview

As a member of the Operational Leadership team, the Hydrogen Lead will be responsible for all Hydrogen activities on site. They will lead a team of high performing Engineers to deliver hydrogen projects/ related activities to strict timelines; financial and operational requirements; and customer expectations. Minimum BSc/BEng in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a leadership role

Responsibilities

• Will manage projects and a team ranging from Technicians to Senior Engineers on a facility with an expected Hydrogen revenue of >£2m. This includes direct and possibly indirect reports.
• Help to lead and ensure efficient operation and growth of the Hydrogen Department.
• Is responsible for the department's safety performance and awareness; spearheads and manages initiatives that drive a culture of safety first.
• Assists in the engineering and coordination of projects from start to finish. Works to assure quality, timeliness, consistency and accuracy of test reports.
• Is the technical lead for many Hydrogen enquires, and promotes Element’s technical capabilities through a variety of avenues, including trade shows and customer visits etc
• Demonstrates knowledge of Element capabilities, processes and expertise to be able to clearly explain the benefits of Element testing services,
• Represents Element with the highest levels of integrity and professionalism at all times.
• Responsible and accountable for driving and delivering customer satisfaction through on time delivery, quality and excellent customer service.
• Provide guidance, direction and developmental opportunities to team members .

Skills / Qualifications

Strong, demonstrable background in Hydrogen
• Strong ISO 17025 background with working knowledge of laboratory safety
• An efficient and articulate leader than possesses strong influencing and technical skills
• Extensive experience, both theoretical and practical, with fracture toughness, fatigue metals testing. Polymeric material knowledge, in addition to the above would be highly desirable.
• Comprehensive understanding of ASTM and ISO standards
• Minimum BSc/BEng in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a leadership role
• Ability to read and interpret test specifications, drawings, test plans. Must maintain extensive knowledge of the current suite of testing capabilities.
• Strong computer skills.
• Preferred Core 1 or Core 2 training using LabVIEW software
