Overview

We currently have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Analyst at our Deeside Environmental laboratory. Successful candidate will join a small team working in Dioxins and Furans lab. Your duties will include preparing and analysing routine and non-routine samples using a variety of techniques following laboratory procedures.

 

Element Deeside is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils, waters, wastes, oils, NAPLs, ambient air, soil vapours and gases from all over the world.  The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development, technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver.  The laboratory has an international reputation for service excellence and supports clients that require a higher level of technical expertise, reliability in data quality and seamless project management from sample collection to timely delivery of data in the format of choice.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing stack, soil, ash and water samples for analysis of Dioxins, Furans, PCBs and PAHs
  • Preparing send out packages to be shipped to our clients
  • Preparing standards for spikes, calibration and quality purposes
  • Conducting analysis and reporting of results to company methods and procedures
  • Ensuring adherence to good laboratory practice and housekeeping at all times
  • Instrument calibration, routine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Prioritising workloads to ensure work is completed in a timely manner
  • Ensuring a continual supply of laboratory consumables by monitoring stock levels and placing orders
  • Development and documentation of methods in conjunction with senior analytical team members
  • Follow health, safety and quality procedures at all times

 

Skills / Qualifications

  • A degree qualification in Chemistry or a Chemistry related subject is preferential
  • Experience in GCMS 
  • A ‘level Chemistry or another science/maths qualification
  • Alternative qualifications will be considered depending on relevant equivalent experience
  • Experience within an ISO 17025 commercial analytical laboratory would be advantageous
  • A motivated, organised individual, with a positive attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to tight deadlines
