Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Department Manager to join our rapidly expanding team.  In this role, you will perform a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. 

 

This position will be based in Sungei Kadut Loop,Singapore.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that safety and quality standards are being met and maintained at all times within the company's safety and QA programs and work with assigned staff to ensure work schedules are maintained and balanced
  • Responsible for the location safety performance and awareness; spearheads and manages initiatives that drive a culture of safety first
  • Under the direction of the General Manager, is responsible for department’s growth including profit and loss.
  • Provides technical and engineering leadership related to construction chemical materials testing, but not limited to other product testing such as floor tiles, door, glass, timber, etc.
  • Manages daily operations to ensure productivity and customer expectations are consistently met in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of Element capabilities, processes and expertise to be able to clearly explain the benefits of Element testing services to all stakeholders.
  • Spearheads the development of new capabilities within Element with formal business case proposal.
  • Provides technical advice or training to coworkers and customers on interpretation of test results.
  • Provides technical and costing input to Business Development team on new and existing opportunities.
  • Confident in making both formal and informal technical presentations to a wide range of stakeholders.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum Degree in Civil Engineering or Materials Science or Materials Engineering discipline from recognised institution, with a minimum of 5-year experience in a managerial role ideally with laboratory management operations experience
  • Must be well-versed with ISO17025 documentation and technical documents such as BS, EN, ASTM, etc.
  • Candidates with SAC-SINGLAS Signatory will be advantageous.
  • Extensive knowledge on laboratory safety
  • Ability to support and train staff members
  • Possess strong technical leadership
  • Ability to communicate (both written and oral) effectively with clients and colleagues with great attention to detail and accuracy of test results
  • Proven track record of success in technical competency
  • Proven ability to work under fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of continuous improvement disciplines such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc.
  • Possess strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
