Overview

As a member of the operations team the L3 Radiographer performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments embedded at a customer facility and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision.

The L3 radiographer must be proficient in a number of NDT methods and hold qualification to Level 3 in radiography PCN / ISO 9712 for castings. They will lead a small team of radiographers be a role model in participation and contribution to a number of core business initiatives and policies including but not limited to co

 

Responsibilities

  • Working without direct supervision to oversee testing and to test parts using Radiography
  • Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, specifications and/or other contractual documents that affect NDT inspections undertaken by NDT
  • Have the skills and knowledge to determine the preferred NDT method and technique required for a given component and prepare and verify the adequacy of inspection procedures
  • Implementing and developing specific NDT techniques under the guidance of Technical Managers and acting as principle technical authority for Level 3 methods held
  • Supervising and conducting routine quality checks of testing equipment in accordance with approved procedures
  • Working with Technical Management to ensure continued professional development of own held certificates and assisting L1 & L2 staff with guidance on certificate renewal / recertification and further qualification through structured training
  • Adhering to Element safety and quality management systems and being and active participant in a strong safety and quality culture
  • Leading a radiation safety team as an appointed radiation protection supervisor

Skills / Qualifications

  • Qualified to PCN / ISO 9712 L3 in Radiographic Testing of castings
  • Extensive experience in testing of heavy castings
  • At least 4-5 years relevant NDT experience
  • Experience working within an engineering and / or Laboratory environment
  • Good general standard of education particularly in English and Maths
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work overtime where demand requires additional capacity
  • Basic supervision and leadership skills
  • Good knowledge of materials, product technology and production methods
  • Broad general knowledge of supplementary or complimentary NDT methods
