Overview

Filton Systems Engineering, part of Element are looking for a verstatile and innovate Mechanical Design Engineer to help support our projects covering a number of different industries ranging from Aerospace, Defence, Energy and Space. This is great opportunity to join a leading systems development. 

Responsibilities

  • Working with the project manager and team to complete the project requirements to time, cost and quality
  • Providing technical leadership and direction to engineering activities throughout the design process with support and guidance provided to the wider team
  • Use expertise and experience to analyse and critique system design, recommending alternative design routes or courses of action
  • Apply mechanical engineering expertise to drive the production of good designs suitable for manufacture
  • Writing technical specifications and datasheets for equipment, leading to procurements of items
  • 3D model design and 2D technical drawing using a variety of CAD packages, mostly Solidworks
  • Produce Technical justification documentation to provide evidence of engineering decisions
  • Basic engineering calculations

 

Skills / Qualifications

  • A relevant engineering degree or equivalent
  • Ideally a Chartered Engineer would be preferable but not essential
  • Excellent working knowledge of mechanical engineering
  • Experience with working to design standards
  • Good communication, interpersonal and technical writing skillsAbility to work onsite at our Bristol facility
  • You must be a UK resident with at least three years UK residency for SC clearance
