Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision.

 

This role is based in Sungei Kadut Loop, Singapore. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain 5S & Safety in Laboratory, plan and deliver services to meet the local and regional business plan objectives
  • Technical report preparation and authorization and provide technical and engineering leadership, and supports the development of new technologies within a local laboratory
  • Provide onsite project leadership and testing execution while ensuring development and training of junior staff
  • Be accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data to customers including sign-offs of quality control data as acceptable
  • Be expected to obtain guidance in non-routine situation testing, possess the ability to oversee standard and/or routine technical problem solving activities and able to interact with customers on technical issues and questions
  • Provide Input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers and be confident in making both formal and informal presentations on conventional and/or routine testing to a wide range of stakeholders and assist in the professional development of novice technicians and engineers within the local laboratory
  • Carry out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and data, utilize an assortment of skill, methods, procedures and materials in advanced testing analysis and be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions
  • Ensure that tests assigned to the technicians are performed in a timely manner in accordance with validated test protocols and procedures; give training to the technicians as required, upkeep test reports and related records and ensure equipment and testing meets the requirement of ISO/IEC 17025
  • Maintain and upkeep test facilities and laboratory equipment, assist with hazard identification and risk assessment exercises within their areas of responsibility and monitor day-to-day health and safety in their section of responsibility and ensure all hazards, near misses and accidents are reported

Skills / Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety
  • Possess a Degree in Civil Engineering or Materials Engineering major or testing related field with a minimum of 2 years’ pertinent post degree engineering experience, or advanced academic / professional qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of testing concepts and able to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business
  • A team player with advanced computer and communication skills
