Overview

Element has an opportunity for a new Accountant to join our Global Business Services team based in Edinburgh. This is currently a nine-month fixed term contract, focused on an overall project to improve process, control and compliance. Supporting across the wider GL team, this role is focused on the newly enlarged Built Environment business unit, reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager.

This role would be perfect for a highly motivated professional keen to further their development in accounting and finance management.

 

Responsibilities

• Development of robust balance sheet control and attestation across the business unit entities.
• Ownership of the compliance and eventual closure of legacy businesses.
• Development of international VAT processes.
• Support and improvement of the month-end process and analysis for local finance and lab teams.
• Support of internal and external audit processes in UK, Ireland, Europe and other territories.
• Support in the corporation tax and payroll compliance work across the business unit entities.
• Documenting and developing the general business unit control environment.
• Providing support to local finance managers and other GBS teams, including AR, AP, Treasury, Tax and Payroll.
• Ad hoc duties as and when required to support finance applications and initiatives.
• Support in move of the full BU onto D365.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree or professional qualification in accounting beneficial
  • • Degree and accountancy qualification desirable, but PQ/qualified by experience considered
    • Good systems and accounting experience preferred
    • D365 experience desirable
    • Effective communicator and comfortable working within both a local and wider team
    • Self-starter, works own initiative and proactive
    • Attention to detail, especially regarding GL transactions
    • Positive, can-do attitude
