As a Safety Leader at Element Materials Technology, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our Breda facility operates efficiently by planning, implementing, and maintaining our company safety program. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to develop and apply your expertise in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) practices while balancing core responsibilities with supportive SHE functions.

 

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be at the heart of our commitment to a safe and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as safety resource to lab team members
  • Assist lab management with loss control activities
  • Coordinate and assist developing facility risk assessments
  • Establish and implement the Safety Health and Environmental company program ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate Safety Health and Environmental audits, inspections and evaluations
  • Review and monitor subcontractor controls
  • Ensure corrective management action when required
  • Conduct lab loss control data/documentation collection
  • Assist with new hire orientation and training programs
  • Promote employee participation in the Safety Health and Environmental program(s)
  • Formulate and conduct safety training sessions/demonstrations
  • Lead the facility safety committee team
  • Assist in major incident investigations and appropriate documentation
  • Exhibit operational knowledge of pertinent safety standards
  •  Responsible for the reporting on the performance of the SHE management system, ensuring two way communication to management, colleagues and any other interested parties
  • Distribute new and changing safety related information
  • Ensure safety equipment is part of operational maintenance plans

Skills / Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of governmental safety and health regulations / legislation (NEBOSH General Certificate, OSHA 30hr / IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent as minimum)
  • Has developing knowledge in compliance and regulations
  • Proven track record of working in and/or influencing relationships where there is exposure to sensitive issues
  • Developing Safety, Health Environmental knowledge and experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Must be able to problem solve effectively
  • Able to train and deliver key messages to large groups
  • Ability to enforce regulations and engage in conflict resolution in a respectful and engaging manner; ability to see both sides of a situation, analyze and resolve safety-related issues
  • Ability to analyze data and provide evidence-based recommendations
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details
