Overview

Element has an opportunity for a new Assistant Finance Analyst position within the Corporate Planning & Performance Management (P&PM) team, which is part of the Element Group Finance team and based in London.

Our Corporate Planning & Performance Management team is responsible for all management reporting and financial planning processes of the company and the administration of the systems used to support. The team prepares all data, analysis and commentary required to allow the Executive team to articulate the Element story to the Board and external stakeholders. They also act as Finance Business Partners to the Operating Board members that manage our Functional teams (e.g. Finance & Legal, HR, IT & Commex).

The team is growing and are looking to progress its capabilities and function. The new role requires financial and data analysis skills and offers the opportunity to support the P&PM team in delivering comprehensive analysis, consolidate management reporting, preparing Board papers, supporting throughout forecasts/budget processes, and supporting Investor Relations. This role would suit candidates that are part-qualified or wishing to start an accountancy qualification such as ACCA or CIMA.

In addition to your FP&A responsibilities, you’ll also benefit from a rotation across three other key finance functions:

• Group Reporting & Controls
• Finance Systems
• Corporate Functions

This rotation will give you a well-rounded understanding of corporate finance and help build the skills needed for a successful long-term career in finance.

Responsibilities

• Monthly Management Reporting: Assist in producing the monthly performance reports to the Operating Board and Group Board
• Data Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reports presented to Senior Leadership Teams, including collating and reconciling data from different sources.
• Forecast and Budget: Support the collation and preparation of various forecasts including mid-year forecasts and the Annual Budget, with related analysis and reporting.
• Assist in preparation of the monthly timetable
• Assist in ad-hoc analysis requests from the Senior Leadership Team
• Systems: Become a Power User of the recently implemented Group Corporate Performance Management System (“OneStream”). The P&PM team is part of the Centre of Excellence for this system, aiding other users and advising on future enhancements.
• Collaborate with the Regional and Business Unit Finance teams within the wider organisation and providing support through the various reporting & planning processes in the year.

Skills / Qualifications

Essential skills include:
• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), either working towards or aiming to start that qualification
• Basic understanding of financial planning and analysis concepts such analysing financial results, trends, financial KPIs and financial ratios.
• Pro-active attitude, high attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise in a fast-paced, dynamically changing environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work and interact with all levels of personnel in the company.
• Ability to work across time zones and work with globally diverse cultures.

Highly desirable skills include:
• Some experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI
• Experience of financial performance analysis, budgeting / forecasting would be advantageous
• Experience with analysing large datasets


Software experience:
• Microsoft Office experience – Strong Excel skills as well as PowerPoint, Word.
• Experience in use of CPM solutions such as OneStream & Workiva would be highly desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
• Knowledge of Power Query/VBA would be highly desirable.
