Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Trainee Communications Test Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team in Hull. As a member of the operations team, the communications test engineer works with connected manufacturers who are utilizing cutting edge technology, such as Zigbee, Matter and cyber security. This exciting role involves testing and assessing these connected devices against the latest global standards so they can be sold around the world.

 

Responsibilities

  • Testing of connected devices for compliance against Zigbee / Matter and Cyber Security standards 
  • Be familiar with test equipment functions, measurement and calibration techniques 
  • Maintenance and recording of test results 
  • To interact with clients during testing to inform them of test results and request required test information 
  • Occasional business travel may be required both domestic and international. 

Skills / Qualifications

  • Technical or engineering degree / qualifications and experience with programming (python, Java, C++) and/or product cyber security. 
  • Ability to work on well-defined issues, standard and/or routine tests, with limited supervision in accordance with approved procedures, methods, customer specifications and standards. 
  • Have a customer orientated approach, with good communication skills (emails, teams calls etc). 
  • Be able to demonstrate adaptability with regards to managing job priority and work time in accordance with targets/goals set by supervisor 
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to apply an array of testing techniques in a rational and practical style to help examine issues and build solutions 
  • Team focused and collaborative. 

Experience:

  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, C+. 
  • Knowledge of Zigbee/Matter technology and testing/certification. 
  • Understanding of product cyber security requirements and regulations. 
  • Previous experience with Ubiqua Protocol Analyser preferred but not essential.
