Overview

We are seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor / Soil Analysis Specialist for a full-time, on-site role located in our Laboratory in Dubai. The role involves overseeing daily laboratory operations, supervising team members, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance / control standards, (ISO/IEC 17025:2017). The professional will manage teams involved in water and soil testing and analysis, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure accurate data recording and reporting to meet service requirements. Collaboration with clients and adherence to best laboratory practices will also be key responsibilities.

 

The role requires strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of soil testing methodologies, including the ability to defend and interpret laboratory results and conduct accurate assessments based on analytical findings.


This position will be based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Technical Support and Quality Assurance
    • Address technical queries related to test results, ensuring scientific accuracy and clarity for customers. This is particularly pertinent to queries initiated from the soil section of Decca, (Dubai Municipality)
    • Lead the auditee team during internal and external audits by providing responses to queries related to ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
    • Support continuous improvement of quality systems and ensure compliance with accreditation standards
  2. Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Deliver excellent customer service by handling inquiries, clarifying analytical results, and initiating investigations where results are disputed.
    • Maintain strong communication with clients, ensuring transparency and confidence in laboratory services.
  3. Method Development and Validation
    • Develop analytical methods for environmental samples (water, soil) in line with international standards.
    • Validate and evaluate method performance parameters including bias, precision, detection limits, linear range, and measurement uncertainty.
    • Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for in-house developed
  4. Operational Excellence and Safety
    • Collaborate with the Safety team to implement 5S practices, risk-assessment review and safety-related initiatives in the laboratory
    • Partner with the Operational Excellence (OPEX) team to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance workflow effectiveness
  5. Team and Resource Management
    • Schedule and coordinate laboratory activities, including field sampling and team assignments
    • Provide technical guidance and support to team members to build expertise and maintain high-quality standards.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Strong supervisory skills, with the ability to manage and guide a team efficiently
  • Proficiency in laboratory equipment operation and maintenance
  • Experience with, and an understanding of, laboratory processes and LIMS systems
  • Expertise in quality control measures and procedures to ensure reliable results
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, (or higher), in chemistry or soil science, or a related field
  • Previous experience, (minimum of 5 years) in soil analysis and / or chemistry laboratory supervision is essential
