Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element, the Associate Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision.  The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems at project sites.
  • Carry out routine field monitoring works, including settlement, vibration, tilt, groundwater level, and ground/structural deformation measurements.
  • Record, verify, and maintain accurate monitoring data in accordance with project procedures and requirements.
  • Support engineers and surveyors in site investigations, instrument inspections, and data collection activities.
  • Conduct regular checks on instruments and site conditions to ensure proper functionality and reliability of equipment.
  • Report abnormal readings, equipment defects, or site-related issues promptly to the supervising engineer or designated personnel.
  • Ensure all monitoring activities are carried out in compliance with site safety regulations and company procedures.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles (soil behavior, settlement, groundwater)
  • Familiarity with monitoring instruments (inclinometers, piezometers, extensometers, settlement markers, data loggers)
  • Ability to assist in the installation and maintenance of instruments
  • Basic understanding of site surveying and reading engineering drawings
  • Able to collect, record, and check field monitoring data accurately
  • Basic Excel skills for data entry and reporting
  • Awareness of construction site safety requirements and procedures
  • Physically fit for outdoor and construction site work
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Team player with a willingness to learn and improve technical skills
  • Willingness and ability to work night shifts when required, depending on project and site requirements.
