  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for an Indirect Strategic Sourcing Manager (Contract). The major focus of this role is to proactively identify indirect purchase opportunities, guide and support stakeholder groups through the process to standardize technologies, and work with vendors to develop and execute group purchases that provide all participating Labs with favorable pricing and terms.


    You will be responsible for identifying, structuring and executing sourcing initiatives within the Indirect Expense budget, develop sourcing strategies and applies category management principles to leverage Element’s global scale always with Total Cost of Ownership mentality. This position relies heavily upon strong communication skills to a wide variety of audiences and through various formats.


    • Develop and execute category strategies for the Indirect spend category at a Regional Level
    • Lead and execute category management sourcing activities including the development and qualification of new suppliers to support business needs
    • Partner with the Leadership Team to optimize the supplier network in alignment with the Enterprise Procurement organization
    • Create bid packages, negotiate prices and contract terms, solicit bids, analyze quotations, perform contract management and provide commercial recommendations
    • Drive standardization of procurement processes, policies and best practices into the Indirect Category
    • Drive effective Supplier Performance Management for the category including supplier business reviews, scorecards and compliance requirements
    • Create, maintain and own business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players to influence their supply chain capabilities, efficiency, and effectiveness for Element
    • Conduct supplier assessments in partnership with Business and/or Functional resources
    • Own or facilitate the negotiation and implementation of all global, country or regional contracts with new and existing suppliers to mitigate risk, establish favorable commercial terms and maximize savings opportunities in support of the category strategy and in partnership with the business
    • Owns supplier continuous improvement roadmap by partnering to conceptualize opportunities and drive improvement of key functional metrics and reductions in operating costs in partnership with the Business or Function
    • Aggressively manages category performance by adhering to internal Savings goals and reviewing financial models for commodity type items. Ensure spend portfolio for reoccurring managed spend is balanced through coordinated sourcing waves and leveraged with Capital project sourcing activities
    • Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across Business Units where applicable, by forming and leading cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement category/commodity strategies and to drive cost from individual spend sub-categories
    • Works closely with legal counsel to ensure the appropriate terms and conditions are in place to mitigate legal and business risks
    • Ensures fully executed agreements are communicated and filed appropriately by using the contract management tool in place at the time.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Degree in Business or Engineering
    • Certifications in Purchasing Management a plus
    • 5 plus years of Procurement / Strategic Sourcing / Category Management in Indirect Category. Demonstrated indirect leadership is highly valued
    • Aerospace, Automotive or industrial sourcing experience is a must-have
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
