  • Senior Financial Analyst - Contract

  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst - Contract to join our team. The Senior Financial Analyst role is a member of the Accounting team at Element Mississauga Shared Service Center. The successful candidate should have a strong background both in Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis. 



    • Analyze accounts and post journal entries to the system
    • Join month-end closing process, supporting other accounting team members as required
    • Prepare various account reconciliations on a monthly basis and maintain control logs
    • Assist in review of monthly P&L’s , investigating variances responding to queries in a professional and timely manner
    • Liase with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Credit and other departments as required ( investigating & resolving issues, process improvements, etc)
    • Work with AR and AP in accounting for and reconciling various inter-company and intra-Americas activities to ensure entries are posted in a timely manner for accurate month-end certification and reporting of inter-company balances
    • Assist in month-end HFM uploading and reporting
    • Write and maintain desktop procedures or policies and maintain internal control documentation
    • Respond to queries from finance and tax auditors in related areas
    • Assist in monthly cash flow (liquidity) forecast and actual reports
    • Assist in budgeting/forecasting activities
    • Responsible for working with related operation labs in the timely submission of business cases for capital projects including challenging the labs when required
    • Maintains financial security by following internal controls and accounting procedures
    • Researches and resolve operation labs’ inquiries
    • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses
    • Ability to design and develop financial models to support decision making
    • Critically review processes to identify process improvements and to ensure strong internal control environment
    • Other ad-hoc projects/tasks as requested

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Minimum five years accounting and/or financial planning and analysis experience
    • A Chartered Professional Accountant designation is considered an asset
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form 
    • Self starter
    • Strong technical accounting background
    • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Team player with ability to work independently
    • Takes initiative and strong work ethic
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before employees of organization
    • Experience with Microsoft Navision an asset
    • Experience with HFM or Adaptive Analytics budgeting software an asset
