Overview

Warringtonfire has an opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager to join its Fire Consulting Team. Reporting to the Division Director you are an essential member of the management team and will assist the General Managers in driving the overall quality performance. This includes management of the Element Quality Management System (QMS), improving First Time Right (FTR), maintaining and developing relationships with customers and improving processes. The successful candidate will have a sound working knowledge of ISO 9001 and other standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020.

 

In this role, you will interact with clients, accreditation and certification bodies and will be responsible for advising operational colleagues of the importance of quality, accuracy and integrity in the provision of the consultancy services we provide.

 

You will be involved in leading quality for the Division and will work closely with the Sector Quality Manager to ensure that Element quality policies, processes and procedures are effectively defined, implemented and maintained.  As a quality leader within Element you will be capable of driving a culture of quality assurance and quality improvement, working closely with your operational colleagues and the wider Element quality community.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of, and driving scope extensions for, all accreditations and certifications held (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001) and all other regulatory requirements
  • Implement and maintain QMS excellence, ensuring robust controls are in place to govern all processes performed in accordance with requirements
  • Develop and effectively maintain QMS policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, etc. including daily QMS management and provide coaching and mentorship to colleagues to ensure effective implementation at all locations
  • Prioritize multiple activities to meet the needs of the business, colleagues and our customers
  • Embed and drive a culture of quality assurance and quality improvement in all parts of our consultancy operations
  • Ensure the continued fulfilment of customer expectations through effective implementation of the QMS, e.g. through robust contract review, quality performance reporting and through proactive communication with customers
  • Ensure that all accreditations and certifications are maintained and extended, as agreed with operational management and the Division Director, to service our customer base and retain our competitive position as a leader in fire consulting
  • Manage and support accreditation/certification body assessments
  • Cross functionally mentor, coach and oversee the site’s corrective action performance to ensure effectiveness of both root cause resolution and corrective action(s) implemented
  • Ensure all audit nonconformances (incidents) from assessments are subject to robust 8D root cause analysis and responded to in accordance with the Element’s established quality requirements, timelines and formats dictated by the Element QMS
  • Drive continuous quality improvement projects to reduce the cost of poor quality, improve FTR, and ensure compliance to regulations, standards. company objectives and customer requirements
  • Manage continuous improvement and risk mitigation initiatives via Kaizen events, PFMEA, Six Sigma, Risk Assessment, and Lean tools with support from the operational excellence team
  • Ensure training in the Electronic Quality Management System (eQMS), for all available modules, is effectively implemented and utilized by all colleagues across the Division and ensure eQMS usage is monitored and maintained to support quality performance and efficient best practice
  • Develop, analyze, manage and report-out key quality performance metrics on a regular basis that include improvement measures aligned to business goals.
  • Manage robust quality training and assessment programs for new colleagues when onboarding and provide refresher training to existing colleagues at scheduled intervals
  • Provide quality support to training / cross-training activities, assessments and refresher training programs to ensure they are robust, timely and effective
  • Implement oversee and execute method audits, system audits, and site audits to ensure compliance with requirements and adherence with protocols
  • Actively coach, mentor and collaborate cross functionally with colleagues and with the wider quality community to promote quality maturity and performance to achieve business objectives

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in a scientific or engineering discipline, experience in materials testing or a related environment (e.g. manufacturing, quality systems experience)
  • Experience of ISO 9001 is a prerequisite and knowledge of ISO/IEC 17020 and ISO/IEC 17025 is preferred
  • Auditing experience
  • Experience in interpreting quality procedures and requirements
  • Proficiency in English is a prerequisite as is proficiency in report writing
  • Proficiency in computer skills using Windows applications e.g. Word, Excel (data analysis, Pareto, charts, etc.), PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop systems, write procedures, work instructions, develop forms and implement
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability prioritize multiple activities
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage teams to achieve timelines / goals
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in leading cross functional and dynamic quality investigations, driving robust 8D type root cause analysis, developing systemic corrective actions and ensuring the effectiveness of actions undertaken
  • Ability to quickly gain and understand changes in the quality landscape and self-driven to maintain personal professional development to ensure strong quality leadership
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with challenged, deadlines and multiple priorities

  • Adept in quickly identifying quality and technical problems and creating a collaborative environment with colleagues to determine effective and sustainable solutions

  • Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross functional colleagues and work effectively as part of a team
  • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at industry events and in customers meetingsWell-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication requirements
  • Ability to interface with accreditation bodies, customers and industry networks
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time with overnight travel based on location
