Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Deputy Operations Manager to join our Asbestos team based in Hunterston, Ayrshire. This role will be responsible for a team of between 2 and 4 Surveyors, Analysts and Administrators.

 

The key focus of the role includes stakeholder management with various Magnox stakeholders, managing budgets and quotes as well as actively engaging with the client directly. Priorities for the site include supporting the client in the management of asbestos on site and hitting key deliverables within the service level agreement.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the routine air monitoring and re-inspections programmes as well as ensuring the asbestos register is kept up to date
  • Maintaining personal and individuals authorisations in order to complete site work, such as air monitoring, 4SC’s, surveys, bulk sampling etc
  • Responsibility for all QC submissions, calibrations, audits, training records etc. for the Hunterston team
  • Undertaking pre-job briefs and ensuring setting to work exercises are completed to the client’s satisfaction
  • Completing RAMS for the site construction office to enable future Element works
  • Responsibility for client interaction / meetings – both contractual and technical 
  • Responsibility for submission of staff timesheets and invoicing
  • Undertaking and managing localised HR issues with site staff, including appraisals / absences / holidays etc.
  • Attending regular department meetings and providing and ensuring progress updates
  • Project managing any site projects
  • Assisting the Operations Manager when required

Skills / Qualifications

  • As a minimum applicants should possess S301(or equivalent), P402, P403 & P404 (or equivalent) or CoC (Asbestos) and be authorised to undertake surveys and clearance testing 
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification is essential
  • The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience
  •  Previous knowledge of Nuclear / Industrial sites and standard safety protocols
  • Good knowledge of asbestos QC system / C,N-C & A Register and SOPs
  • A self-starter who is highly motivated
  • Foward-thinking team player
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • If the successful candidate does not hold the CoC (Asbestos) qualification, applicants who do not hold this qualification should detail how they propose to get the qualification, with a timetable for action
