Systems Accountant

Element has an opportunity for a new Systems Accountant to join our growing team. Element has an opportunity for a Systems Accountant to join our growing team. In this role you will be a key member of the group finance team which supports the global finance community and the wider business from a financial / practical point of view.


An accounting background is required as it will be called upon to deal with month-end queries and reporting issues.  There will be an initial focus on maintaining the existing Group Planning & Reporting tool (Workday Adaptive Planning). Looking forward, we will be implementing a global CPM solution to replace our Group Consolidation system, a project which you will be a key part of, so prior project experience would be beneficial.


Once the global CPM solution has been implemented you will be responsible for the Administration and continued development of the system, working alongside the System Administrator. In addition you will help to up-skill the global finance and operational teams with training, documentation and workshops, helping drive standardised finance practices/policies. 


A background / interest in IT will help when pushing for reporting / systematic solutions. The finance systems team works closely with IT and provides a conduit for synergies between the two departments for the wider business.



  • Administration and Development of Planning & CPM tools
  • Identifying process inefficiencies & implementing improvements
  • Documenting and training of new procedures / solutions
  • A team player when helping to problem solve queries relating to: month end closing, quarter end closing, and year-end closing, including project accounting, variance analysis, journal entries, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management in various labs and departments, including sales, operations, shared services and all other adjunct functions
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
  • Systems accounting experience required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Change management experience /project experience
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritise accordingly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning and CPM/Consolidation system is beneficial
  • Experience with D365 for Finance & Operations and experience with Dynamics Nav a plus (2009/2016) is advantageous but not required
  • Experience with reporting / dashboard tools (PowerBI / Tableau / PowerPivot / Business Objects) is advantageous but not required
