Associate Sales Engineer (Nuclear / Seismic)

Element has an opportunity for an Associate Sales Engineer to join its growing centre of excellence in Warwick. This new role will be responsible for conversion of more complex requests for quotes to high quality bids and quotations. Our new Sales Engineer will build strong relationships with clients throughout the sales cycle, proactively follow up on leads for future business opportunities and will make detailed testing proposals.


Our ideal candidate will be customer focused, action oriented and will have the ability to identify technical requirements of assigned accounts. Ideally our new Sales Engineer will have a technical background from either a similar Sales Engineer role or will have a technical education and sales / customer service experience.


The role will consist of developing, growing and maintaining our Nuclear / Seismic business.


Our Warwick facility is the largest Environmental Testing in the UK (vibration, climatic, shock, sand and dust etc), making us the ideal choice of testing partner for the aerospace, military, transportation, energy and industrial manufacturers who need to ensure their product is compliant with either industry-specific standards of in-service condition.


Please note the successful candidate will need to be security checked for SC clearance.



  • Proactively develop contacts and engage with customers of assigned accounts
  • Identify current and future customer service requirements by establishing rapport with customers, acting as a liaison between the customers and Element
  • Receive and process request for quotations (RFQ)
  • Prepare quotes by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents; consulting with Program Managers, technical experts, and other technical staff within Element
  • Calculate or establish pricing lead-time from standard price lists, local costing models, etc.
  • Follow-up on quotations for the assigned customer base and or quotations produced, providing clarification and modifications when required
  • Actively utilise company CRM system to record activities, ensuring contact details are accurate, new information is added and accurate call / visit logs are entered
  • Achieve sales goals by increased conversion and penetration of accounts
  • Build and maintain a working knowledge of Element’s service offerings

Skills / Qualifications

  • Relevant technical experience, preferably with some sales responsibility or a degree in a related science or engineering subject preferred
  • Experience working within an environmental / physical test environment
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and proportions and apply concepts of basic algebra / geometry
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Dynamics AX and CRM, Word, Excel)
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interface with clients, win new work and determine client requirements
  • Flexibility to travel infrequently as some overnight travel may be required
  • A full, clean, driving licence
  • Successful candidate will need to be security checked for SC clearance
