Overview

Warringtonfire Australia, part of the Element Group, has an opportunity for an Test engineer to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for an individual to grow their career with one of the fastest growing companies within the Testing, Inspection & Certification sector. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Discussion by telephone, E-mail and/or meetings to advise on all matters relating to fire resistance testing
  • Liaising with clients to determine their requirements
  • Liaising with clients with respect to the provision and allocation of test dates after discussion with the Operations Manager
  • Completion of internal systems using Synergy and any associated procedures designed for the effective operation of the department
  • Continuing liaison with client to ensure they are aware of requirements and provides the correct specimen at the correct time
  • Liaison with the client to ensure they provide a full description of the specimen in the required time scales
  • Evaluation of the specification in terms of its impact on health and safety to members of staff and visitors
  • Liaison with client, including contractors, during installation of specimen to ensure a seamless transition between specimen installation and testing
  • Conductance of test to ensure all requirements of the Standard, the contract with the client, and internal procedures are satisfied
  • Supervision of Laboratory Technicians, as appropriate, during the test
  • Ensuring all safety requirements are fulfilled in conjunction with the Technical Assistants, as appropriate
  • Liaising with clients, before, during and after test
  • Ensure that the specimen drawings and specification are produced in the correct form within the required time period
  • Drafting and compiling draft report and liaising with the departmental manager to ensure that the checking procedures are correctly conducted. Additionally, liaising with client for comments on draft report (where appropriate)
  • Signing reports as previously prepared and agreed
  • Liaising with client to deal with any queries in relation to the report

Skills / Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or other related engineering discipline
  • Experience in AUTOCAD
  • Practical experience in laboratory work
  • Previous experience to Australian or International Standards
  • Possess a high level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline
  • Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business
  • In-depth understanding of testing concepts
  • Can analyze and compiles testing data from the tests performed
  • Possess strong computer skills
