Technical Manager, Metallurgy

Element has an opportunity for a Technical Manager ,Metallurgy. This position will be based in Ghatkopar West , Mumbai in India and and provides a great opportunity to develop your career within a Global TIC business


In this role ,you will be primarily responsible for supporting Mechanical Testing, Material Characterization, Metallurgical Testing, Failure Analysis, Chemical & Water Testing and Corrosion Testing in a busy commercial laboratory 



  • Knowledge and expertise on Material Testing viz. Mechanical Testing, Material
    Characterization, Metallurgical / Metallographic Testing, Chemical Testing, Water Testing, Corrosion with an overview on NACE 
  • Supervise, conduct and report on failure analysis works in  laboratory / field environment
  • Presentat technical work in different platforms, both written and oral in a confident manner while exhibiting pragmatic and innovativeness with respect to both conducting the investigation and providing solutions for the customer
  • Estimate the work effort required and to help in the commercial breakdown of projects
  • Ensure accurate reports on the analytice equipments :GC, ICP-AES, ONH Analyzer,Instron, MTS, Creep etc
  • Responsible for method development and validation of test methods
  • Support  operations to expand new services with existing test facilities while mentoring and training junior staff;  on using the laboratory equipment while ensuring compliance with  the laboratory SOPs
  • Perform internal process audits to ensure compliance with NABL and ISO17025 and adherence to general corporate guidelines

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor  / Master Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Material Science or related discipline 
  • Conversant with ASTM, IS, ISO, EN and other related national and International standards and sound knowledge and experience on selection of specifications, test methods, standards and and possess internationally accepted certification in welding
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience working in projects related to material testing with special emphasis on Failure Analysis, Fracture Analysis ,Advanced fracture toughness testing involving SENT geometry, Hydrogen charged CTOD and modified SSC/HIC tests for steel
  • Hands on experience in working with SEM / EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy / Energy Dispersive analysis)
    in an ISO 17025 laboratory environment
  • Excellent project management/Managerial skills and keen ability to dissect complex engineering problems to determine feasibility of projects
  • Proven ability to understand unique customer requirements and propose suitable solutions to meet project goals
  • Able to lead and function within a team, handling difficult workloads and meeting targets and deadines as required
