Overview

Element has an opportunity for a new Continuous Improvement Manager to join our team in Newbridge, Edinburgh. 

 

The role will play a key role in embedding a culture of personal and collective accountability to deliver increasing value within the Shared Service Centre (SSC) function. Our goal is to deliver a World Class service to our stakeholders and developing and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across all the SSC teams is critical to this.

 

The role includes ‘hands on ‘implementing activity, together with developing the culture, associated processes, and measurements for success. Although there is no formal people management responsibility in this role, there will be a requirement for coaching, training, and overseeing colleagues as part of the projects and change initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement continuous improvement methodology and balanced scorecard reporting within the centre
  • Engrain continuous improvement into the culture, developing a network of CI champions
  • Improve business processes through the application of appropriate tools and techniques e.g. Lean Six Sigma
  • Perform process reviews and identify waste risks, controls, and improvement opportunities
  • Support and co-ordinate with SSC and wider finance and business teams to deliver business improvements
  • Act as a filter for new ideas that come from within the organisation, and advance those ideas that will improve organisational performance
  • In coordination with functional leads, support in leading the definition of savings / productivity targets and savings calculation methodology
  • Monitor realization of benefits, including tracking financial and qualitative results
  • Implement productivity measurement, and track progress through
  • Monthly / Quarterly productivity and KPI reporting, reporting regularly to
  • Leadership team and stakeholders on progress
  • Facilitate cross-functional working on problem solving activities and sharing of best practices
  • Analyse data to support decision making in process improvements
  • Build strong relationships with teams, prioritising and communicating opportunities
  • Support activity mapping exercises for processes and time-in-motion for employees in current state, and re-measure post-productivity initiatives to track actual attainment of productivity targets

Skills / Qualifications

  • Proven experience of implementing Continuous Improvement programmes across a multi-national and multi-functional SSC
  • Proven experience of implementing productivity and KPI reporting within an SSC environment
  • Experience of process mapping and other process improvement techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capacities to synthesise data, to generate meaningful insights
  • Ability to analyse and present data using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and SharePoint
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise workload appropriately with a strong accounting background required
  • Skilled communicator and proven relationship builder, able to operate within a multitude of formal and informal networks while managing the competing interests of varied stakeholders
