Cylinder Maintenance Technician

Element has an opportunity for a Cylinder Maintenance Technician to clean and prepare sample cylinders and bags while maintaining adequate stock and maintenance of equipment.



  • Clean and prepare samples cylinders and bags for sampling in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform procedures as documented
  • Follow procedures for maintenance of equipment required for cleaning. Record when maintenance is performed
  • Assist shipping with preparation of samples for transportation
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy
  • Maintain good housekeeping at all times to ensure a clean and safe work environment
  • Request supplies and consumables in advance of requirement by recording needed items in order book
  • Train new staff in test methods and procedures
  • Work with trainees until approval of trainees’ demonstrated competence is documented
  • Maintain training records, resumes and CVs
  • Maintain sample cylinders and valves to ensure that they are in proper working order
  • Seek out their direct supervisor if they are unsure of any job duties or tasks as per the structure shown in the organizational chart
  • General duties as directed by the team leader or lab manager

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma with related experience
  • On The Job Training Required:
  • WHMIS/Safety Training
  • Proficient in preparation procedures
  • Understand and follow test methods
  • Effective time management
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge of transportation requirements
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices
  • Knowledge of supply levels and ordering process
  • Technical knowledge of test methods
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to identify failing cylinders and valves
