Metallurgical Engineer

Job Locations CN-Shanghai


Element has an opportunity for Metallurgical Technician role in Qingpu District, Shanghai.



  • Preparing samples for metallurgical and corrosion testing
  • Interpreting microstructures for steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium and nickel based super alloys
  • Operation of optical microscope, micro-hardness tester and digital imaging
  • Work with department manage to help writing and reviewing internal metallographic and corrosion test procedures
  • Conducting corrosion tests, prepare salt or acidic solutions for the corrosion tests
  • Maintaining equipment operation manuals and calibration records
  • Conducting metallographic equipment maintenance
  • Keep track of metallographic lab supplies, chemicals and standard test blocks for micro-hardness testers
  • Following stringent quality procedures such as Nadcap
  • Developing and maintaining good relationships with customers
  • Possibly being involved with initial test equipment installation

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science and Engineering
  • Minimum three (3) years laboratory experience in the key responsibilities above

  • Corrosion related testing experience is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of specifications such as ASTM and ASM

  • Good report writing skill both in Chinese and English

  • Good command of English verbal and reading

  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office)

  • Familiarity with performing and leading lean and 5S activities
