Overview

Element has an opportunity for a new Accountant (Italian speaking) to join our  growing team. The key focus of this role is to oversee and manage the finance activities that are performed in our Italian businesses from our Shared Service function in Edinburgh.

As this is a newly created role, you will be expected to help develop and maintain the finance function for our Italian entities, working with and supporting the in-country team, while embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with the local Italy based team to ensure monthly reporting requirements are delivered
  • Report monthly Italy accounts into Group systems and maintaining monthly reconciliation between local accounts and Group IFRS are maintained
  • Implement best practice processes in transactional accounting activity and month end reconciliations
  • Month-end management accounts preparation and reporting requirements for Group Holding Companies
  • Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Traking of capital projects approval and expenditure reporting
  • Provide support to Finance team, Group Tax Manager and labs on VAT / statutory reporting as required
  • Implement KPI monitoring and reporting for the team
  • Support of internal / external audit processes & ensure an effective control environment
  • Work with local internal and external accountants to ensure compliance with monthly and annual reporting requirements
  • Co-ordination point with the Group, External advisors and local Italian team on Italian related projects
  • Ensure local compliance requirements are understood and accommodated for during upgrades to our current ERP platform

Skills / Qualifications

  • As this is a newly created role there is an unparalleled opportunity to make this role your own, so an ability to work independently and take the initiative will be essential
  • Previous experience of Italian Accounting and Italian Gaap / IFRS
  • Degree or professional qualification in Italian accountancy required
  • Preferable part qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA)
  • Fluent English and Italian langugae skills are essential
  • Good knowledge of general accounting and reporting processes, preferably gained in a Shared Service Centre environment
  • Excellent systems experience with advanced excel and data manipulation skills and previous experience of D365 advantageous
  • Collaborative in approach and able to build strong working relationships with all levels within an organization
  • Ability to deliver, meet deadlines and prioritise where required
  • A real passion and drive for continuous improvement
