Technical Manager

Job Locations UK-Flintshire-Deeside


Element has a rarely available opportunity for a Technical Manager to join the senior operations team. You will have responsibility for all technical aspects of the Environmental Laboratory's in both Deeside and Cape Town.


Working closely with the senior team you will ensure that Element maintains technical edge including identifying and developing new methods and improving approaches to existing methods. 



Lead and drive the technical team and work with department heads to;

  • Identify and implement new services
  • Progress method development
  • Progress validation & accreditation of new substances
  • Actively review and approve client communications regarding technical queries
  • Review non-conforming work with department heads to ensure effective investigations are undertaken
  • Monitor effectiveness of investigations, ensure actions are implemented and asses trends in order to identify improvements in methods
  • Lead, develop and drive laboratory training program
  • Attend Industry events to represent, promote, and present on behalf of Element
  • Provide leadership and a clear understanding of technical and quality standards in providing resource to the QU to maintain a quality system


Skills / Qualifications

  • Relevant Scientific Degree, preferably chemistry or equivalent
  • Demonstrable laboratory experience including Supervisory/management Experience
  • In depth knowledge of the operations of a high volume analytical laboratory
