Safety Engineer

Element has an opportunity for an Safety Test Engineer/Trainee Test Engineer to join our rapidly expanding General Product Safety testing team. As a member of the operations team, the Safety Test Engineer/Trainee Test Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The Safety Test Engineer/Trainee Test Engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.



  • Support testing of electrical devices to key National and International safety standards (such as 62368-1, 61010-1 and/or 60335-1)
  • Generate technical test report which will be used as part of CE marking, NRTL, CB and other national regulatory certifications for electrical/electronic devices around the world
  • Supports the development of new technologies within a local laboratory
  • Be accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data to customers including sign-offs of quality control data as acceptable
  • Be expected to obtain guidance in non-routine situation testing
  • Have the ability to oversee standard and/or routine technical problem solving activities
  • Interact with customers on technical issues and questions
  • Provide input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers
  • Carry out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and data
  • Be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions

Skills / Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Experience of working within a laboratory environment electrical standards, e.g. IEC 62368-1, IEC 61010-1, etc. (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including with customers
  • Drive for improvements and efficiencies
  • Ability to plan, organise and manage workload in an efficient and timely manner
