Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Conformity Assessment Manager to join our growing safety certification team. In this position you will be responsible for the generation, implementation and adherence to the certification body operational procedures, technical procedures and quality system in accordance with company, customer, and third party requirements.This is a great opportunity to act as the expert source of technical advice and expertise in all facets of certification of the safety of equipment for use in ordinary and hazardous locations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and a clear understanding of technical and quality standards in developing and maintaining a quality system that meets the requirements of ISO / IEC 17065 and the IEC Conformity Assessment Systems
  • Approving the technical content of reports and certificates prior to issue to customers
  • Act as liaison with customers, vendors, and colleagues to answer inquiries, concerns, and complaints insofar as they relate to safety certification activities
  • In conjunction with colleagues, write, review and/or approve certification procedures, training documents, and position responsibilities, in accordance with industry standards, customer requirements, and Element Corporate SPs
  • Work with the testing laboratories used by the certification body in the conduct of safety certification, including Element and non-Element laboratories, to meet customers’ expectations while maintaining the necessary independence and impartiality
  • Be responsible for audits of the testing laboratories used by the certification body in the conduct of safety certification, including Element and non-Element laboratories, as required by the IEC Conformity Assessment Systems and accreditation bodies
  • Ensure proper training and qualification of certification colleagues occurs, at the frequency required by industry standards, internal procedures, customer requirements, and Element Corporate SPs
  • Support process improvement activities, 5S and SQDCYou should have the ability to manage high workload and conflicting priorities
     

Skills / Qualifications

  • A thorough understanding of ordinary location or hazardous area product safety, including direct experience of testing or certification to at least one of the following series of IEC standards: IEC 60950, IEC 61368, IEC 60335, IEC 61010, IEC 60601, and IEC 60079
  • Typically have at least 10 years experience in product testing or product certification
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an electrical engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of the IECEE and IECEx certification systems, and the operation of CE Notified Bodies and UKCA Approved Bodies
