Element has an opportunity to offer a role as Automation Engineer (TIC/Calibration) for our Calibration & Testing Nordics Business Unit (BU).


The Automation Engineer sets up the automation of manufacturing processes to govern the production and delivery of products, and is responsible for managing processes to improve, streamline and automate calibration operations and manufacturing processes to reduce the need for human intervention.



  • Implementation of measures to identify and optimize the automation of calibration and manufacturing processes, working with metrology engineers to develop an automation system to calibrate measuring instruments
  • Identification of new opportunities for automation, designing new automation equipment and processes
  • Programming new and automated components, troubleshooting automated processes or equipment when errors occur
  • Developing and maintaining accurate documentation of automation equipment and processes, writing reports to the management team about new concepts and test results
  • Work closely with the global innovation & engineering team as well as the laboratory managers and calibration and measurement engineers
  • Simulating, installing, testing, and managing electrical or mechanical automation
  • Increase productivity while maintaining product quality and adhering to internal protocols and external regulations
  • Training technical staff as required
  • Technical management of project teams

Skills / Qualifications

  • Higher technical education in the fields of electronics/communications engineering, industrial electronics, production engineering or automation engineering
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in programming and software development
  • Strong experience in the field of automation as well as in project management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, be able to explain complex ideas to stakeholders and within multidisciplinary teams and to keep documentation
  • Passion for problem-solving and creative thinking to troubleshoot problems and to find effective solutions
  • Good network of solution providers is an advantage
  • Experience with lean management
  • Good organizational skills to map out projects, prioritize workload and keep accurate documentation
  • Flexibility and adaptability to keep up with latest techniques and technologies as they develop
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Good German, Swedish is an advantage
  • Travel required, mainly in Germany, Denmark and Sweden (work will be conducted onsite at labs)
